November:

- Organizational meeting.

- Aa meticulous analysis of the concept of The American Dream on the basis of:

               "The Constitution of the United States"
               "The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin"
               "The Death of a Salesman" by Arthur Miller

               "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald

             

- The rejection of the American Dream in XXth century literature:        

                   "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" by Hunter S. Thompson
                   "Factotum" by Charles Bukowski    

December:

- An introduction to Transcendentalism.

- A discussion about two major works of Transcendentalism:

               "Nature" by Ralph Waldo Emerson
               "Walden, or Life in the Woods" by Henry David Thoreau

January:

- Poetry of the Civil War:

           "Leaves of grass" by Walt Whitman

- The Civil War in Literature:

             "Red Badge of Courage" by Stephen Crane

February:

- J.D. Salinger - Language and Voice in "The Catcher in the Rye"
- Truman Capote - a non-fiction novel "In Cold Blood"

March:

- 4th - Science Festival - a meeting with fantasy and humor.

- Performing a stage play "Death at Work" written by Krzysztof Karbownik and Michał Mostowski.

- A Contest for junior high school and high school students, presenting the motifs of fantasy in English and American literature in a convivial way.

April:

- The Portrayal of the Second World War in American Literature:

                    "Catch-22" by Joseph Heller
                    "The Naked and the Dead" by Norman Mailer
                    "Slaughterhouse-Five" by Kurt Vonnegut

May:

- An evening with the Beat Generation:

                   "On The Road" by Jack Kerouac"
                   "Naked Lunch" by William Burroughs
                   "Howl" by Allen Ginsberg


- Academic trip to Berlin

June

- Treasure Hunt- English game for primary school students.

- Farewell meeting: a brief summary of our activities.
