10.12.2013 - A TRIP TO POZNAŃ

On the 10th of December we visited the NOVUM LIBRARY at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. The aim of the trip was to find materials necessary to write our diploma dissertations.

22.10.2013 - MEETINGS WITH THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE – PART I

On the 22nd of October the members of our circle and other second year students conducted the workshop for the group of over 80 teenagers from The School Complex No 1 in Piła and The Salesian Junior High School. We prepared three presentations (two prepared under the guidance of dr Marlena Bielak and one by mgr Ewa Rogozińska) which, due to the impressive number of the event participants, were repeated four times. The most active junior high school students were awarded prizes.

27.06.2013 - A TRIP TO POZNAŃ

On the 27th of June 2013 the members of our circle and our tutor dr Marlena Bielak participated in a trip to Poznań which aimed at visiting the NOVUM LIBRARY at Adam Mickiewicz University. We familiarized ourselves with the impressive resources of the above library, which constituted preparation for the choice of a diploma seminar we are going to start in the second year. We were all in a good mood and we had a great time.

May 2013 - OUR FILM

In May 2013 two members of our circle - Rafał Korpal and Piotr Błaszczyk - completed their work on the film featuring the competition called Tell me your story - a meeting with fantasy and humour. The film presents the most important moments of the event, i.e. the activities for the competition participants prepared by the members of our circle and other first-year students and the performances given by the junior high school and high school students who took part in the contest. Each participant of the competition was delivered a copy of the film. We all thank Rafał Korpal and Piotr Błaszczyk for their hard work and involvement.

 

15.04.2013 – LANGUAGE IN PRACTICE

On the 15th of April the members of our circle and other first year students had the pleasure to entertain over 250 junior high school and high school students from Piła and its region. We presented three amusing presentations: Little Red Riding Hood: A Modern Version, Skater Boy by Avril Lavigne (both performances prepared under the guidance of dr Marlena Bielak) and Fantasy and Humour Vocabulary (whose preparation was supervised by mgr Ewa Rogozińska and dr Marlena Bielak). The performances were held in separate classrooms and the most active students received gifts. Due to the impressive number of the participants, each presentation was repeated eight times!

22.03.2013 – WORKSHOP

On the 22nd of March we participated in the workshop, organised by Pearson, which aimed to present various materials for English language teaching at different age levels. The workshop was an event which accompanied the English and German Language Competition for Junior High School students in the organization of which we were involved, i.e. we helped the organiser of the competition, mgr Ewa Rogozińska , to prepare copies of tests (we clipped them together) and we brought some gifts for the competition participants from the promotion office.

04.03.2013 - TELL ME YOUR STORY: A MEETING WITH FANTASY AND HUMOUR

In February and March 2013 our circle, under the guidance of dr Marlena Bielak, participated in the organization of the event entitled Tell me your story: a meeting with fantasy and humour, which was held on March 4, 2013. The competition was addressed to junior high school and high school students of the town of Piła and its region and aimed at demonstrating the art of storytelling supported by the use of requisites, sound etc.  The participants of the competition were requested to prepare a presentation in the English language (about 5-7 min.) which was to include the elements of fantasy and humour in reference to Anglo-Saxon culture. The assessment criteria for the presentation included: informativeness, creativity and the way of delivering.

The competiton was accompanied by games conducted in the English language. We made three presentations: Little Red Riding Hood, Skater Boy by Avril Lavigne and Fantasy and Humour Vocabulary (prepared under the guidance of dr Marlena Bielak and mgr Ewa Rogozińska). We are also preparing a digital recording of the event and planning to send it to schools participating in the event.

13.12.2012 - COMMUNICATION IN POLISH AND ANGLO-SAXON CULTURE

On the 13th of December we participated in the meeting entitled Communication in Polish and Anglo-Saxon Culture. We listened to the lecture Communication in the Polish Media: Aesthetic aspects given by our tutor, dr Marlena Bielak. The lecture was followed by a discussion during which we had a chance talk to our special quests - Ewa Moszczeńska and Lyn Atterbury - who willingly answered our questions concerning some communicative aspects of Anglo-Saxon culture.

28.11.2012 - TEDDY BEAR, ANIMAL RACE AND BOWLING – SPORTS GAMES FOR CHILDREN IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

On the 28th of November our circle, under the guidance of dr Marlena Bielak, organised sports games in the English language for the pupils of the Primary School in Grabionna. The children participated in three activities - Teddy Bear, Animal Race and Bowling - held in separate classrooms. Our guests sang a song about a teddy bear, went bowling and took part in an animal race. At the end of the event all the pupils were awarded participation certificates.

06.11.2012 – OUR FIRST MEETING

On the 6th of November we organized our first meeting. Its aim was to plan our activities and discuss ways of organising competitions and games for school pupils. We watched a film made by the students of our college which featured the competition Tell me your story (prepared by the students of the English Department in April 2012). Finally, we decided that our next activity, entitled “Teddy Bear, Animal Race and Bowling”, should take place at the end of November.
